The RRTC on Employer Practices Leading to Successful Employment Outcomes for Individuals with Disabilities at Virginia Commonwealth University is the preeminent research center on employment issues and people with disabilities. It is funded through the National Institute of Disability and Independent Living Related Research, US Department of Education (NIDRR). On its website, the Center explains its purpose as being:
“…… to study those supports that are most effective for assisting individuals with disabilities maintain employment and advance their careers. The primary stakeholders for this project are persons with disabilities, with an emphasis on those who are unemployed, underemployed or at risk of losing employment. “

Project Search at VCU Health Systems - Project SEARCH is a one year, high school transition program that provides skills training and work experience for young adults with significant disabilities ages 18 to 22.
VCU-ASD Career Links (Autism Spectrum Disorders) - VCU ASD Career Links is a collaborative initiative between VCU and the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services (DRS). The primary target population for this research is individuals with ASD, with an emphasis on youth and young adults.
