This website provides on-line information about more than 22,000 assistive technology devices. They are organized by function performed (broken into eleven categories), by life activity or task (broken into fifteen categories), and by vendor. Listings include a short description of the device and what it does(many have a photograph), and a link to the vendor's website for purchasing information. The site has been created by the Georgia Tech Center for Assistive Technology and Environmental Access (CATEA) and its Partners and was created with funding from the U.S. Department of Education's National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR).
In addition to this extensive database of devices, Assistivetech.net also has links to the "Pass It On Center" website, which is an online training center about setting up state and local programs to reuse assisstive technology devices. There is also information on the state programs set-up through the U.S. Assistive Technology Act to set up funding and loan programs to help people with disabilities gain access to the assistive technology resources that will help them.
