A Planning Guide for Making Temporary Events Accessible to People With Disabilities

Authors: ADA National Network

This guide, adapted from an earlier version first published in 1998, addresses most questions about how to host an accessible temporary event. It highlights important aspects of disability that may keep individuals from attending a community or temporary event, such as mobility, visual, hearing, or cognitive disabilities. It also goes through each of the different laws under ADA, Section 504, and other state and local laws. One weakness of the guide is that most of the information is about accommodating people who have physical disabilities, such as those who use wheelchairs.

This step by step guide offers many topics important for planners to consider when planning a temporary event. The guide has diagrams with instructions, and is available free online, or through print-friendly version.
