Presidential Executive Order Implementing Olmstead Decision

Description:
President Bush committed to issue an Executive Order instructing federal agencies to take vigorous steps to implement the US Supreme Court's 1999 Olmstead decision. He reiterated that commitment when he announced his New Freedom Initiative. On June 18, 2001, the President signed this executive order. It instructs federal agencies -- including the Departments of Health and Human Services and Justice -- to pursue implementation of the decision. Go to the web to view/read the order.
