APH Font™ (pronounced Ay’-font)

Authors: American Printing House for the Blind (APH)

Description:

A survey was conducted by the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) and found that low vision readers preferred either Arial, Tahoma or Verdana fonts in printed material. According to APH, these fonts are generally perceived to be easier to read by everyone, thus falling into the domain of Universal Design.

APH did a follow up survey to determine characteristics that made these fonts easier to read. The research resulted in a new font named APHont. Click on the "Web Links" tab above to see a sample and learn how to download it for installation on either a Mac or PC. The font is free for qualified users.
