The Nurturing Program: Parents with Special Learning Needs and Their Children

 Full Description:
The Nurturing Program for Parents with Special Learning Needs uses pictures and simple phrases to teach the important concepts of being a nurturing parent to people with special learning needs. Topics included in this program are: praise, discipline, hygiene, feelings, touch, recognizing needs and getting them met, child development, communication, routines, toilet learning, sexuality and relationships, and chemical health.

This is a very comprehensive program that would be most useful to parents with younger children. The material is set up for classroom learning, but could be adapted to one-on-one teaching (e.g.s home visiting).
