Highlights   Full Description   How to Obtain/Whom to Call   Web Links
 Full Description:
This ground-breaking video offers guidance and direction from professional law enforcement and first response advisors designed to successfully resolve an emergency call from a person with autism.

Anyone viewing the video will come away with a practical understanding of what autism is—and what to do when they interact with children and adults with autism who are in an emergency situation.

The video features 15 children and adults with autism, an actor who has autism, and actual 911 calls. It has the look and feel of TV news, and uses real life events as a training tool. Law enforcement officers are featured in the video.

The video merges documentary techniques and vignettes to explain critical issues for officers including:
• Lack of Fear of Real Danger
• Sensory Over-Stimulation
• Wandering and Other First Contact Issues
• Communications and Behaviors
• Responding to the Call
• De-escalation
• Restraint & Arrest
• Interview
• Understanding Legal Rights
