Product Information The Future is Now: A Future Planning Training Curriculum for Families and Their Adult Relatives with Developmental Disabilities

Highlights   Full Description   How to Obtain/Whom to Call   Web Links
 Full Description:
This curriculum is based upon research findings and successful outcomes with the RRTCADD training model. After participating in this future planning process, families are able to understand the future legal and financial issues that are important when securing a positive future for their adult relative with developmental disabilities.

Both families and staff become sensitized to the involvement of the individual with a disability in the futures planning process. A major portion of the curriculum helps families prepare a letter of intent that outlines future living arrangements, community roles and lifestyle preferences of the adult with a developmental disability.

The curriculum includes a workbook for families and one for the individual with a developmental disability. Additionally, the staff members facilitating the planning process have guides and an appendix with questionnaires and slides. A Spanish version of the family workbook is also provided in the curriculum.
