The sponsor provides support for effective programs in the key areas of education, economic development, and arts and civic infrastructure.

Details:
The sponsor provides grants that support effective programs in the following key issue areas:

EDUCATION: educational leadership to support reform in public education and contribute to the positive transformation of schools; youth development to build skills and competencies needed for young people to function and contribute in life (including expanding arts education opportunities for young people, supporting after-school and extended-day programs and summer programs that effectively address the summer learning-loss issue; and parental support and advocacy to ensure that parents and caregivers have access to the resources and skills necessary to undertake their leadership roles and nurture their children.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: workforce development programs that provide
job training in demand occupations; job-creation through business development, which includes access to capital, nonprofit/for-profit ventures, and adult and youth entrepreneurship; and decent, affordable housing that is created through programs that focus on either housing strategies or neighborhood-based activities.

ARTS & CIVIC INFRASTRUCTURE: arts as an economic engine and as a quality-of-life issue to ensure vibrant communities; and capacity-building activities for grantees.

Eligible applicants are tax-exempt organizations in areas where the sponsor has a substantial presence. In order of emphasis, the sponsor funds: programs that serve its headquarters city of Newark and surrounding New Jersey urban centers; and programs in cities where Prudential has a significant presence. These cities include: Chicago, IL; Dubuque, IA; Hartford, CT; Houston and Dallas, TX; Jacksonville, FL; Los Angeles, CA; Minneapolis, MN; Philadelphia and Scranton, PA; and Phoenix, AZ.
