Employment Policy, Strategy, and FundingWhy This Is Important
A great deal of employment for individuals with disabilities is dependent upon local, state, and federal policies, strategies and funding streams. For example, the Americans with Disabilities Act greatly affected employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. These policies and funding streams affect how many hours an individual can work, what kind of pay they receive, where they work, and virtually every aspect of employment. Understanding policies and funding streams is important because they affect employers and support staff, as well as individuals with disabilities themselves. Some of these policies, strategies and funding streams also affect self-employment.
