It is important that people with disabilities build the skills and receive the necessary supports to be successful in typical work environments. Most people work for companies or organizations, and to get started they usually work for an hourly wage. People with disabilities have fought long and hard to first be hired by companies, and then to be paid the same wage as people without disabilities are paid.
This department includes products that show approaches to exploring and securing work in companies large and small. There is also information about emerging and proven practices including Supported and Customized Employment, job carving and creation, job sharing, individualized approaches to assessment, worksite training, natural support facilitation, negotiation, and job development strategies.
