Classic Film and VideoWhy This Is Important
Media portrayls of disability are among the most influential factors in how people with disabilities are viewed, and by extension, treated, by society. A number of influential films and video programs stand out among the thousands of (often negative) representations of disabilities. These programs are often considered "must viewing" by disability advocates, scholars, and activists. Documentaries exploring and exposing life in institutions, feature films offering realisitc portrayls of autism, experimental videos offering interpretations of disability culture, are some of the programs that belong in this department of the Quality Mall.
